Why Being a USA Swimming Club Matters for the Beaufort Tiger Sharks

The Beaufort Tiger Sharks are proud to be a USA Swimming club team - an official designation that unlocks a world of opportunity for our swimmers. As part of the nation’s governing body for competitive swimming, we gain access to top-tier coaching resources, sanctioned swim meets, and a clear pathway to elite-level competition. Being a USA Swimming club means our athletes train and compete at the same standard as swimmers across the country, from local age-group meets to Olympic trials. This affiliation elevates the experience for every swimmer, from beginner to advanced, while reinforcing our commitment to excellence, safety, and long-term development in the sport.

Join a team that’s nationally recognized and community-driven - Beaufort Tiger Sharks, a proud USA Swimming Club!

Stroke Clinics

Our Stroke Clinics are a great way for Swim Team members to build skills and confidence in the water. Must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle without stopping and tread water for one minute. Swimmers will be coached in stroke development, mechanics, and stamina training to prepare for the upcoming swim team season.

Contact Coach Dennis for more info.

Free Swim Team Try-Outs

Interested in joining the Tiger Sharks swim team?

Our free swim team try-out gives swimmers the opportunity to meet our coaches, demonstrate their swimming skills and find the right placement on the team.

During the try-out, swimmers will complete basic skills such as floating, kicking and swimming short distances using multiple strokes. YMCA swim coaches will evaluate each swimmer’s current abilities, answer questions and recommend the appropriate team level based on their skills and experience.

The goal of the try-out is to make sure every swimmer begins at a level where they can build confidence, improve their swimming technique and grow as a competitive swimmer in a safe, supportive team environment.
